The clinically relevant effects of paracetamol in ED patients admitted with fever

Paracetamol is a very often used drug in acute care, but the effects on clinically relevant effects in ED patients with fever have not been investigated. In ICU patients, however, no effects of paracetamol on prognosis or length of ICU stay have been found.
We propose a randomized placebo controlled blinded study to investigate clinically relevant effects  – time to resolution of fever and to antibiotic switch (iv to oral), well-being of the patient, number of blood cultures, and length of hospital stay – of paracetamol in ED patients admitted with fever.
