Hospital admittance: what are the risks? A prospective cohort study on patients’ prediction on their outcomes

Our objective is to evaluate whether patients are able to predict their outcomes and impact of their acute hospital admission on their lives. This will be done using several modified “Prediction Questions” concerning various outcomes, such as functional status and death. Patient predictions will be compared with the real outcomes. . We hypothesize that patients are able to predict some outcomes. Also we assume that patients and physicians have varying ideas of outcomes after hospital admission. This research will provide insight in the accuracy of patient predictions on their outcomes and thereby the possibility to use these predictions in providing care.
